The NASA Explorer Schools Challenge is an opportunity for students to do projects related to NASA's Vision for Space Exploration. This year's theme is Return to the Moon.  Students will work in teams of two to design, build and conduct an experiment on some aspect of the Moon.  In addition to the two students, each team must include at least one family member.  Schools will recommend one team to move from their Local Challenge to the Regional Challenge organized by the NASA Center in their service region. Contact your NES Coordinator or Susan Hoban for more information.

What projects should Student Teams do for the Challenge?

For NES Challenge 001, the topic is Return to the Moon,  so the Student Teams should design projects which relate to NASA’s Vision for Space Exploration, starting with new missions to the Moon.  The subject should be interpreted liberally to allow the students to be creative, as long as the projects relate to the Moon and require the students to make quantitative measurements.  A few sample projects are provided to give the Student Teams an idea of the types of projects that would be acceptable.  Student Teams will be able to upload their Experiment Design in early December.  The Experiment Design should fit easily on one piece of paper.

Watch this site for updates!  We hope you have fun with the NES Challenge!
